Happy Easter to all those celebrating 🙂 What do you have planned this weekend?
I realise it’s been a little while since I’ve posted on here. What can I say, keeping up with social media amongst work and home life is tough. I try my best to be present on social media but sometimes it can be difficult.
It’s been a busy few weeks and I need to stop pressuring myself to do everything. I always kick myself if I haven’t posted in a week, especially on days such as Mother’s Day, which is a hard for me anyway.
But lately I’ve decided not to be so hard on myself. I will do what I can do with the utmost effort and enjoyment. After all, it’s called a work/life balance for a reason.
So this weekend we are going to take it easy whilst meeting with friends and family for dinners and birthday parties. We have never celebrated Easter traditionally, so we don’t have many rituals. Apart from eating our weight in chocolate eggs.
One of my favourite things to eat around Easter is hot cross buns. My husband always laughs at me because hot cross buns was one of the foods I went mad for when I was pregnant. I couldn’t get enough of them. I’m sure it was simply because it was a satisfying carb covered in butter rather than a ‘craving’.
And that’s exactly how I like to eat them. Well toasted with lashings of butter and a nice hot cup of tea. I mean doesn’t everyone like eating them like this? Is there any other way? I’m sure there is but I’m not willing to deviate just yet.
I always have ambitions plans to bake them myself but then reality kicks in of the workload and I realised it’s much easier to simply buy them. Although I will attempt to bake them one day.
These hot cross buns are from Aldi and they were delicious. My daughter has recently discovered them and she loves them too.
What will you be eating this Easter? Do you have any traditions? I’d love to know. Here’s a little throwback to my slow cooked Indian spiced lamb last year if you fancy something different. It was absolutely delicious.
Whatever you have planned this long weekend, I hope you have a wonderful time. A chance to enjoy the weather (hopefully) and relax. See you next time!
